The Child Care Registration Department is responsible for registering and monitoring school age child care programs in accordance with the New York State day care regulations.
New York State Registered School Age Child Care:

Provides care for more than six children from kindergarten through age twelve.

Provides care for children during non-school hours; also may provide care during school vacation periods and holidays.

Is located in a commercial building, school, church, community center, or other public facility.

The number of children cared for depends on the square footage of each classroom space.

Adult to child ratio varies for young school-agers and older school-agers.
- 1 adult for every 10 children under the age of 10
- 1 adult for every 15 children over the age of 10
- If children are in mixed age groups, the ratio for the youngest child in the group must be applied
- School age child care providers must renew their registration. The first renewal is every 2 years, if remaining in compliance; renewal is then every 4 years.
