Types of Child Care Programs

The first step to starting your own child care business is to take the "Child Day Care Orientation" through the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS). This orientation will walk you through all of the information needed in order to start a child care business. It will introduce you to important rules and regulations you will need to know in order to run your business, such as: necessary requirements, child care regulations, space requirements, and important information on adult-to-child ratios. The orientation will take approximately 1.5 hours to complete.
