Developmentally Appropriate Practice For Early Childhood Educators: Virtual Training Series
Session 1: Foundational DAP - Introduction to the 202 NAEYC Developmentally Appropriate Practice Position Statement
NAEYC defines “developmentally appropriate practice” as methods that promote each child’s optimal development and learning through a strengths-based, play-based approach to joyful, engaged learning. Dive deeper into this topic by attending this virtual series. These 5 trainings were created by NYAEYC our state chapter of the National Association For The Education Of Young Children (NAEYC). They are grounded in the NAEYC book: Developmentally Appropriate Practice in Early Childhood Programs 4th Edition.
This session focuses on familiarizing participants with the 2020 NAEYC Position Statement on Developmentally Appropriate Practice. Content focuses on the key components of the statement as well as shifts and changes in the document from previous versions.
While it is encouraged to attend all five sessions, these trainings can also standalone so you can pick which ones best suit your professional development needs. It is not necessary to have the NAEYC DAP book but anyone who attends 3 or more sessions will be entered into a raffle for a free copy in May at the end of the series.
This training is at no cost due to grant funding. If you would like to register for all 5 sessions please email Kirstin Hollman at khollman@wnychildren.org.
