Health & Safety for Legally Exempt Providers
Foundations in Health & Safety Training is a new federal requirement. Legally exempt child care providers who are applying to be paid by the Department of Social Services must complete the training before their application can be complete. Employees, volunteers, and anyone with the potential for regular and substantial contact with children must also take the training. Failure to complete the training may result in a denial of the provider’s enrollment application.
If you have one of the following relationships to ALL children in care,
you may not have to take Foundations of Health & Safety:
- grandparent
- great-grandparent
- aunt/uncle
- siblings
If you need to take the training to be approved as a provider, you have two (2) options:
- You can take Foundations in Health & Safety Training free online. Visit the Professional Development Program website at www.ecetp.pdp.albany.edu for more information.
OR
- Child Care Resource Network is offering Foundations in Health & Safety Training for Legally Exempt Providers. The 5.75 hour course costs $50 per person.
