Medication Administration Training (MAT)

Child Care Resource Network is very excited to announce a new partnership with Marlene Morales, RN to provide NYS Medication Administration Training to child care providers in our community.

What is MAT?

The Medication Administration Training (MAT) course is a skill-based training to help you administer medication safely in your program. The course is eight (8) hours of training and includes a video training component as well as hands-on demonstrations. The training provides an overview of medication effects and ways to give medication for both over-the-counter and prescription medication; the handling, storage and safe disposal of medication; permission and instruction requirements; preparation and administration techniques; asthma; emergency care and special situations.

How to register for Medication Administration Training (MAT)

Please follow the steps listed below to register and pay for the MAT Classroom Course or the MAT Independent Study course at Child Care Resource Network.

Step 1: Register and pay for the training with Child Care Resource Network. Visit our website training calendar, linked here: https://wnychildren.org/training-calendar-view and find the class you wish to register for. Complete the registration for your selected training, including payment, then proceed to step 2.

Participants must also register for this training on the Professional Development Program (PDP) Portal. Read Step 2 carefully for instructions on how to register for MAT training on the PDP Portal. You are not fully registered until you have applied for the training on the PDP website.

Step 2: Use this link: https://www.ecetp.pdp.albany.edu/mytraining/guest/login.aspx to create an ECETP account (Early Childhood Education and Training Program). Once you have created your account follow the steps below to apply for Medication Administration Training (MAT). Applying for the training through this account is necessary and will be the only way you receive your certificate at the completion of the training.

Step 2a: Click on the option ‘Apply for Health & Safety or MAT Training.’

Step 2b: Under the ‘By Region’ option select Buffalo.

Step 2c: Scroll down and find the training with our MAT Trainer, Marlene Morales; when you have found the training click on the training title. Be sure you have selected the correct date.

Step 2d: A box will appear with the training details; Select ‘Apply for this training.’
