School-Age Care (SAC) Credential

Are you a child care provider that works with school-age children?

The School-Age Care (SAC) Credential has been developed to promote quality services to children and families by providing specific standards, training, and evaluation of school-age staff members and providers. 

 

By earning a SAC Credential, you’ll be afforded the opportunity to gain professional recognition for demonstrating competence in on-the-job skills.

  • Communication during enrollment is primarily done via email. Please check the email you provide on your application for any updates regarding the SACC course you enrolled in.
  • You will not be able to apply for the Educational Incentive Program (EIP) Scholarship until after enrollment ends. For information on the EIP Scholarship you can visit their website at: https://www.ecetp.pdp.albany.edu/eip.aspx

COURSE OVERVIEW

The SAC Credential Preparatory Course at Child Care Resource Network:

  • Takes under 1 year to complete, and consists of a total of 72 hours of training, completed over 2 separate Parts of 36 hours each.
  •  Takes place from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm on Mondays or Tuesdays.
  • Meets in-person at our agency on 1000 Hertel Avenue in Buffalo. A full class schedule is provided prior to the start of the first part.
  •  Includes guidance and information on the following:
    • Preparing the Portfolio and Resource File
    • Program Advisement
    • Preparing for Endorsement
    • Applying for the SAC Credential at the Network for Youth Success.
COST

Please note, the course fees and tuition listed here are subject to change.

Tuition for the SAC Credential Preparatory Course is a total of $2,000, or $1,000 per part. Candidates can pay either out of pocket or with available scholarship funding. Funding to pay for tuition may be available through the Educational Incentive Program (EIP) Scholarship. Scholarship funding is not guaranteed.

Candidates are also required to purchase the book and materials prior to the start of the first part, for a total of $145.00. EIP does not cover the book and materials fee.

ENROLLMENT

A new course begins every September. Applications are only accepted during the enrollment period from June-July.

The course application is available online at our website during the above enrollment period. Interested candidates will need to submit an online application and a $100 application fee. The fee can be paid either on our website linked below or with the link that is automatically emailed upon the submission of the online application.

Information about the course is sent out one month prior to the first class. Candidates interested in applying for EIP will be given information after enrollment closes. EIP is not available to apply for during enrollment periods.

Child Care Resource Network is a host agency for the New York State SAC Credential Preparatory Course. The course is an in-depth study of competency standards that reflect best practices in after-school programs. This course is specifically designed for individuals currently employed in SACC programs, center-based, or home-based child care programs who serve children ages 5 to 13 years old. Seminar instruction is held weekday mornings during the school year. Class does not take place during school breaks. In addition to seminar instruction, CCRN also provides you with a Credential Advisor who will serve as your mentor throughout the credentialing process
